Happy New Year!

For new years day, “Every bird is new today.”
I attended CMBO’s “KICK OFF YOUR YEAR LIST IN CAPE MAY” with one of my favorite leaders, Don Freiday, and it was great!!
Don’s eBird notes are as follows:
“A great day was had by all – 20 participants plus leaders Don Freiday, Warren Cairo, Beth Ciuzio, Janet Crawford, Kathy and Roger Horn, Karl Lukens, Tom Parsons, Virginia Rettig, Chuck and MJ Slugg, and Steve Weis. Total for our 4th annual New Year’s Day field trip was 76 species.

But the highlight of the day came at Jake’s Landing when I got my first great look at a Short-eared Owl – in fact, we got a look at two Short-eared Owls in a battle with a perched Red Tail and a flying Harrier.  What an amazing site!!
