NJ Pelagic: Experience of a Lifetime!

Who wouldn’t take a See Life Paulagic trip out of Cape May during what is being dubbed an “Alcid Year.”

Saturday, February 4th 2012 was just another GREAT pelagic day! We had the usual suspects and lots of added surprises, including an unbelievable number of Dovekie!

And to summarize, here are the birds, by the numbers:
Black Scoter 18 White-winged Scoter 13 Scoter sp. 81 Red-throated Loon 37 Common Loon 11 Northern Gannet 150 (85) Northern Fulmar 16 (12) Herring Gull 326 (150??) Great Black-backed Gull 42 (25??) Black-legged Kittiwake 9 (6) Bonaparte’s Gull 4 Common Murre 7 Razorbill 40 Dovekie 700 Atlantic Puffin 18 large alcid sp. 9

We also had great looks at marine mammals too!
