New Mexico Birding Adventures

Looking for a quick and exciting birding get-away, RF and I decided to head west… and BOY was it worth it!

In a matter of 3 1/2 days, we were able to both reach milestones in our birding (RF lifed 5 to reach 600, and I lifed 21 birds for the mini-milestone of 350)

The highlights of the trip included all 3 Rosy Finches at Sandia Crest, close encounters with Cackling Geese and Sandhill Cranes, Crissal and Curve-billed Thrashers, Cactus, Canyon, Bewick’s and Pacific Wren (a recent split,) Say’s and Black Phoebe, Steller’s and Western Scrub Jays, Townsend’s Solitaire, Greater Roadrunner, Ladder-backed Woodpecker, Mountain Chickadee, and the list goes on and on….

New Mexico can only be described as a place with friendly people, amazing scenery and incredible food! (not to mention host to the amazingly appropriate Owl Cafe!)
