Bagworm UPDATE

Since reporting on the Bagworms, I noticed “different” behavior by our local Song Sparrows. I saw that they were “banging something” on the paved area outside my back door.

Turns out, they are plucking the bagworms from my neighbor’s tree and then “bang” them on the concrete to get them out of the bag.

I have witnessed this multiple times, and unfortunately, the Song Sparrows leave behind “evidence” too!

I say, have at it, Songies!

Maybe you could be the first to report Song Sparrow predation of bagworms!

  2. Sure, some smart guys wrote some papers, but only this.great.planet brings it to the masses! 🙂
